Final Project Reflection

Image
Developmental Processs The developmental process of the eBook was a rough one. After brainstorming on many ideas such as travelling, fashion trends, online dating, we settled on fashion trends. This is because we felt that it would be interesting to talk about it, and many millennials would not be familiar with the topic. However, some problems that I faced while exploring this idea that since we would have to design all elements in our eBook, I felt that pictures drawn out regarding different clothes designs would be difficult and might not look aesthetically pleasing. Moreover, it would be difficult to come up with different design concepts and vibes for each decade, which might then increase our workload. With feedback received during the critique session, after much deliberation, we finally changed our topic to a millennial's guide to online dating in Singapore. Due to the need to identify a specific target audience, we decided to target millennial girls. I felt that this wa...

The picture I have taken is as shown below From the picture, I have extracted five hues, as shown below: In general, the colours extracted are differing shades of orange colours and blue. Overall, the picture uses cooler colours due to the presence of blue colours in most parts of the picture. The colour scheme present in the picture is the complementary colour scheme, as the general blue colours are opposite the orange colours. This creates vibrant atmosphere in the picture. However, due to the presence of colours that have low chroma (specifically those middle three colours that I have extracted), a calming mood is created as well. This is especially how these three colours take up most parts of the picture. With the blue colours, which convey a sense of calmness, e. The orange colours informs us that it is a sunset happening in the picture. This is especially due to the presence of the bright orange colours present in the sun in picture

Assignment 3: Information Design

The topic I am doing on is depression, which is a silent killer in many countries, including Singapore. Therefore, there is a need to raise awareness about the prevalence of depression in Singapore, depression in youths, what symptoms to look out for as well as how to treat it. My infographic is a form of statisitical, informative infographic. My first sketch is as shown below.  I have taken into account the feedback given to me during critique 1 that there was too much information that I wanted to put into my infographic and to think about what target audience my infographic is for.  I have decided to concentrate on Singapore's statistics and not compare to other countries, and to target youths in raising awareness about depression among youths. Thus, I removed information regarding the elderly, and highlight statistics about youths. After removing the information, I have come up with another sketch on how I would like my infographic to look like (Picture below). ...

Assignment 2: Storytime!

The story I have chosen for this assignment is something that many students, including me, would have experienced in their academic journey. It follows a person who failed a test which caused her to feel extremely defeated. A close friend comforts her and teaches her, and helps her to get a good grade eventually. Picture 1:  The person receives her results in test 1. She sees that she has failed her test, getting a 3/20 and an F grade, and a note to see the teacher.  Over the shoulder shot is used here to emphasise the bad grade that she has gotten.  Medium close up shot is also used here to show the details of her hair and clothes Picture 2: The reaction of the person towards her grade can be seen here. She looks defeated, which is shown on how shes staring at the test paper looking very down and upset A long, high angle, reaction shot is used to emphasise how small and weak she is, portraying her loneliness, and that there is no one to help or comfort her...

Assignment 1 - Stripping Down

The item chosen to abstract is a yellow Kanken bag, and I used Adobe Photoshop to adstract it.  Stage 1 I extracted out all the details of the Kanken bag and drew the bag out on Photoshop, so as to retain the organic look of the bag. I also used yellow to colour the bag, and used its shades to display the shades/shadows on the bag. This gives a realistic illustration of the bag, making it easy to recognise that it is a yelloww kanken bag, like the one in the picture at Stage 0. I intentionally left the logo of the kanken bag white as I wanted to draw the attention of the viewer to the logo, and highlight that it is a Kanken bag Stage 2 To abstract it further, I chose to draw the bag in a 2D form, and drew the bag in a rectangle shape with rounded edges, as a Kanken bag is rectangular in shape. I did not colour it yellow, as I wanted to remove the details of the differing shades of the bag. However, I retained all the details of the bag, such as the zig-zag crosses on t...

Typography Case Study What seems to be off about this particular typographic representation? All letters are in capital letters and slab serif typefaces makes this particular typographic seem to be off. Having all capital letters means that the letters all  have the same relative height and same relative width, and blocky shape. This makes it difficult for the eyes to flow through the text, and makes the text seem overbearing. The slab serif typeface makes creates a loud bold image as well. Thus, using all caps and slab serif typefaces decreases readibility of the words. Central alignment is used, but it is the weakest and the hardest alignment as it makes it hard to read. This is because there is no consistent starting and stopping point for each line so your eyes take a moment to adjust in each line, making this particular typographic representation seem very off. The leading is low which makes the words seem crammed, decreasing readibility of the words. ...
