NM3217 In-Lecture Exercise A

The device that enhances my creativity is the Apple Ipod Classic, as shown in the picture below.

Descriptions as to how it works is as following:
The wheel as shown in below the screen contains a scroll wheel and clickable buttons.
  • To move through individual buttons on the menus, move the thumb around the wheel. An example of a menu screen is as shown figure 2.
  • When you have arrive on the button you would like to select, click the wheel to activate the button when you have reached the button in the menu.
  • The "Menu" button on the wheel allows you to get to the previous menu you were in.
  • To play or pause a song, press the "Play/Pause" button.
  • To skip a song, press the "Next" button.
  • To go back to the previous song or replay a song, press the "Previous" button.
  • To change volume of the music, move your finger around the wheel when the screen shows the music you are currently listening to (as shown in the figure1). Turn clockwise to increase the volume and anticlockwise to decrease the volume.

This Ipod Classic enhances my creativity as it allows me to relax when listening to music and hence be able to think outside of the box more easily. Moreover, it is an old device that reminds me of my childhood as I used to have one when I was little. Therefore, this device reminds me that I should not be restricted to things of the present, but should perhaps look at things of the past which might be interesting to recreate and make some minor modifications on.
